Which one is
better? Juicer or Blender?
Blenders are one
of the most useful appliances to have in your kitchen. They can be
used to make shakes, malts, fruit smoothies, frozen drinks, and even
soups. Every blender comes equipped with its own special features,
so making a selection can be difficult. Here are some of the basic
points to look for in buying a blender:
·
Pulse:
A pulse button allows you to control the actual mixing procedure.
With pulse, you can effective mix foods and incorporate ingredients
without actually pulverizing your creation into a fully blended
liquid.
·
Speed:
There will be a numbered of varying speed levels on your
blender. The speed is adjusted to accommodate the type of food you
are blending. Lower speeds are ideal for mixing beverages. Some
blenders have speeds from three to sixteen, while other go to ten
speeds.
·
Container:
All blenders have removable containers. Glass containers are heavy,
but allow you to watch the food as it's mixing, and clean easily in
the dishwasher. Plastic containers can also be see-through, but they
are generally tough to clean and have a more shabby appearance.
Stainless steel blender containers look super-stylish, but it is
impossible to keep an eye the mixing process within.
·
Cleaning:
It's important to have a blender that's easy to use, but more
important to have one that's easy to clean. A wide-mouth variety
with a detachable blade is the best option. A container with a
larger mouth is easier to load and empty. Consider buying a blender
that has a flush touch pad option rather than buttons. It's much
easier to wipe down the face of the blender if there are no large
knobs and dials to deal with.
·
Power:
The blender you choose should have 300 to 500 watts of power.
It's incredibly
easy to whip up a frothy drink or satisfying soup with ingredients
you likely have on hand in the fridge. Pick up a blender, or pull
the old blender you have out of the pantry, and start concocting
your own special blender creations.
The difference between blender and juicer
·
They
Have Different Functions
The
main difference between a juicer and blender is that the blender
does not separate the seeds, peels or anything for that matter from
the juice as the juicer does and correspondingly the fact that a
blender can slice and operate larger items, quicker. Blenders are
mostly used to derive from smoothies; blended drinks such as pina
coladas, margaritas and daiquiris whereas as juicers are used to
create fresh juice from any given fruit.
·
Blenders
do not separate the juice from the fibre
A
blender works by using rapidly rotating blades to cut and break down
the produce. However when fruit or vegetables are put into a blender
the output contains everything that went into the blender, i.e. the
fruit and vegetable fibers including skin, seeds, pith, flesh etc.
This is wonderful for cleaning and maintaining a healthy colon.
Blender recipes are an excellent addition to a healing and cleansing
program.
·
Juicer
will separate the juice from the fibers
This
separation is fundamental to the juicing process and its associated
health benefits. The separation of juice from fibre means that the
body does not have to divert large amounts of energy to the process
of digesting the juice, as there are no fibers to breakdown. It also
means that the body can easily absorb the nutrients present in the
juice extracted by the juicer as they have all been released from
the fibers and are freely available.
When the drink is
created in the blender the fibers ‘lock’ some of the nutrients
and prevent them from being absorbed into the body. The presence of
large amounts of fibre in blended ‘juice type drinks’ reduces
their palatability when compared with a smooth juice drink prepared
in a juicer. This is because the blended drink will be much thicker
in texture and may contain lumps of produce that haven’t been
fully broken down by the blender’s blades.
Can a blender be used as a juicer?
Blenders are well
known for creating smoothies with milk / yogurt and fruit, however
many people associate juicers with blenders and believe that they
carry out the same kind of processes. Some users have asked if they
can use their blender to juice with. This article aims to highlight
the difference between blenders and juicers and give an overview to
when one should be used in preference to the other.
By now it should
be clear a blender does not perform the same function and SHOULD NOT
be used as a juicer.
You may wish to
add an ingredient into your juice drink that has low water content
such as avocado or banana. These ingredients would produce virtually
no juice when put through a juicer. However when placed in a blender
with some juice prepared in your juicer you can create a juice
smoothie. You may want to add an ingredient to your drink that
contains fibre such as wheatgerm to help keep your digestive system
in healthy working order.
Factors to consider when using a blender
1.
The fibre that exists in smoothies can help regulate
the absorption of sugars into the bloodstream that is present in the
blended output.
2.
When you drink a blended drink make sure to ‘chew’
it before you swallow it. This is important as the chewing action
releases saliva and mixes important digestive enzymes into the
drink. These digestive enzymes are important in helping to try and
break down the fibers contained within the drink when it enters the
stomach. If you do not chew then you may encounter indigestion pains
after consuming a drink produced in your blender.
