Bread
1 package dry yeast
¼ cup warm water
4½ cups flour
½ cup melted butter
1 cup warm milk
¼ cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1½ cups finely chopped onion
½ cup melted butter
3 tbs red chili powder or 1 cup frozen green chili, thawed
How
to cook:
1.
Dissolve yeast in water. Mix in 2 cups of flour,
butter, milk, sugar, salt, and egg. Beat for 2 minutes.
2.
Add enough flour to make stiff dough.
3.
Turn onto a floured board and knead until smooth.
4.
Put in a greased bowl, turn over, and cover with a
clean cloth.
5.
Put bowl in a warm place with no drafts and let the
dough rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
6.
Combine remaining ingredients for filling. Punch dough
down and roll into an 8 x 20 inch rectangle. Cut into four 2 x
20 strips.
7.
Spread filling on each strip and fold over length wise.
Twist 2 strips together and form in a circle on greased cookie
sheet.
8.
Cover with clean cloth and let rise until doubled.
Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with chili powder.
9.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes
Indian Chili Bread
1 dozen bread loaves
1 tbs corn flour
1 tbs all purpose flour
1 tbs crushed garlic/ginger
½ tsp tandoori masala
1 tsp coriander
2 tsp ghee
2 onions
3 tomatoes
1 lemon
salt, chili powder, sugar
How
to cook:
1.
Cut the bread slices into 2x2 inch cubes.
2.
Heat 1 tbsp of ghee.
3.
Fry the bread in it for just a couple of minutes on
medium flame. Sprinkle a little of salt.
4.
Remove the bread from the pan and heat the remaining
ghee.
5.
Fry the onions & tomatoes that are cut into small
pieces.
6.
Now mix the flours, crushed ginger/garlic in a small
quantity of water. Add this mixture to the pan.
7.
Let this sauce boil for 5 minutes. Add the tandoori
masala. Add some more ghee if required. Add salt, chili
powder, red color & a little of sugar.
8.
Now add the bread into this mixture & stir the
mixture well on a medium flame.
9.
When the mixture starts getting drier, it means the
dish is done.
10.
Garnish with coriander leaves & slices of lime.
Serve hot.
